Regenerative Therapies

Frequently asked

Questions

What are regenerative treatments?

Regenerative treatments are non surgical therapies that give the signal to the cells of your skin and hair follicles to regenerate themselves. These include microneedling, platelet-rich plasma and bio stimulation laser/LED therapy. Platelet riche plasma is a non-surgical procedure that can be used to treat acne scars, surgical scars, hyperpigmentation issues, uneven and dull skin tone, fine lines, and wrinkles. Plasma is a component of blood which is full of healing and growth factors. When plasma is introduced back into the skin, the growth factors stimulate collagen-producing cells and new blood vessel formation resulting in skin looking refreshed and rejuvenated.

How is this treatment performed?

Blood is drawn from the patient and put into a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the platelet-rich plasma.

The platelet-rich plasma is then transferred into a syringe to be injected into the area of choice.

Platelets’ main function is clotting blood, but platelets also contain numerous molecules that act as “growth factors” – these molecules are essential for healing, restoration, and rejuvenation. At the clinic, we combine this treatment with micro-needling for its synergistic effects.

Who are the ideal candidates for this type of treatment?

This treatment is suitable for all patients who are not pregnant or breastfeeding and is cleared and safe to be used on ALL skin types including very light and darker skin tones.

This treatment can improve skin quality and smooth fine lines of the face, hands, and neck area. Patients will notice an improvement in puffiness and darkness under the eyes. Overall, the skin will appear more youthful, tighter, and with a better skin tone. This treatment is ideal for individuals that are searching for a natural improvement in their appearance.

How many treatments will I need?

The recommended protocol for optimal results is 3-4 sessions at 4–6-week intervals. After these treatments are complete, some patients may require maintenance therapy once or twice a year. Patients who smoke or have a lot of sun damage will require more treatments.

When will I see results?

Many patients will notice an improvement in skin texture in the first month. Maximum collagen regeneration occurs around 3 months after the initial treatment. The results are typically maintained for 18-24months but could require touch-up treatments once or twice a year.

Are there any side effects and is the treatment painful?

Side effects are minimal and always temporary.

• Fleeting redness
• Mild tenderness

While everyone’s pain tolerances vary, patient’s report a range of discomfort from mild to moderate with the injections. If you have sensitive skin, it is recommended to use a numbing gel or topical anesthesia one hour before the procedure.

Can regenerative therapies be combined with other treatments?

Yes. In some cases, this treatment can be combined with laser treatments or even fillers to better target a patient’s unique condition and objectives.
