Skin Damage: Reversible with Laser Resurfacing?
What if the effects of skin damage and ageing could be undone? Have you imagined a treatment that continues to reverse the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, stretch marks, sun damage and enlarged pores? What if you could achieve a radiant, youthful complexion in just a few short sessions with a brief recovery time? This treatment really exists: CO2 fractional laser resurfacing has helped countless Canadians experience tighter, softer and younger-looking skin.
CO2 Laser Resurfacing: How it Works
he CO2 laser resurfacing conducts a two-tiered function. It works both above and below the skin's surface on the body or face. It very precisely uses heat to remove the top layers of skin, where most visible signs of damage are observed. This in turn generates a response from the layers of skin below, encouraging Neo-Collagenosis. The layers below will replace the damaged skin that was removed, enabling a fresh start.
Laser resurfacing activates your skin's own healing processes by encouraging new, fresh collagen stimulation. Collagen is the elastic part of our skin that keeps the skin firm and youthful. Over time, collagen levels naturally decrease, which causes more sensitivity to damage from the sun, stress, and signs of ageing. Eventually, fine lines, spots, discolouration and other blemishes worsen. By reactivating our natural collagen production, these skin inflictions can lessen and even disappear.
What to Expect
1-4 sessions are required at our MediSpa. This number depends on each unique patient and the severity and type of their skin damage. Modern fractional lasers were designed to shorten recovery time and give a reduced risk of side effects. Patients are normally given a topical anesthetic before the procedures to ensure they are comfortable.
Once sessions are done, patients can expect 5-7 days will be required to recover. It's recommended that sun exposure is avoided a few weeks before and after treatments are undergone. A redness or pinkish tone initially is common and fades away in time. After the redness has disappeared, the skin should look smoother, more youthful and tighter.
